Springfield Parking Authority Deploys Amano ONE to Modernize Downtown Parking Operations

Springfield, MA – [April 9, 2026] – Springfield residents and visitors will soon see improvements to their parking experience as the Springfield Parking Authority (SPA) upgrades the technology in four major downtown garages with a modern Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) solution from Amano McGann. Amano ONE will streamline more than 2,600 parking spaces serving businesses, government offices, hotels, residential buildings, and event venues throughout Springfield.
The modernization project is being deployed at the following downtown garages:

  • I-91 South Garage – 1620 East Columbus Ave, Springfield, MA 01103
  • I-91 North Garage – 1870 East Columbus Ave, Springfield, MA 01103
  • Columbus Street Garage – 1 Columbus Center, Springfield, MA 01103
  • Taylor Street Garage – 33 Taylor Street, Springfield, MA 01103

A Simplified Parking Experience

The new Amano ONE system will make entering, paying for, and exiting the garages faster and more convenient.

Drivers will benefit from: Expedited Entry & Exit with LPR Technology:
 Modern lane equipment will streamline the process of entering and leaving the garage, helping reduce delays during busy periods such as events, workday rush hours, and weekends.

When drivers enter a garage, License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras automatically read and record the vehicle’s license plate information. For the driver, this means:

  • Prevention of lost ticket issues
  • Faster entry and exit
  • Improved security

The system recognizes the vehicle’s plate so drivers can move through entry and exit lanes quickly, without unnecessary delays.

Simplified Payment Options

Drivers will have multiple ways to pay for their parking. New Pay-on-Foot kiosks, placed strategically in the garages, allow drivers to pay for parking before returning to their vehicle. These kiosks accept cash and credit cards and are designed to be quick and easy to use.

Paying at the kiosk means drivers can simply exit the garage without needing to process payment in the lane, reducing congestion during busy times.
Event Parking Made Easy Downtown Springfield regularly hosts concerts, sports events, and large gatherings. During these times, the Amano ONE system allows SPA to implement event parking rates at entry.

Instead of calculating parking time later, drivers can:

  • Pay a flat event rate upon entering the garage
  • Park for the entire event without worrying about additional charges
  • Exit quickly after the event ends

This makes parking more streamlined during high-traffic events and helps reduce long exit lines.

Better Assistance When Needed The solution’s native Call Center with video capability allows drivers to connect directly with parking staff if they need assistance in the lane.
Amano ONE allows parking operators to:

  • See and communicate with drivers in the lane through clear video and audio connection
  • See exactly what the drivers sees on the device’s screen
  • Quickly resolve issues such as payment questions or access problems
  • Assist drivers without needing to physically come to the equipment

After-Hours Assistance Parking doesn’t stop when office hours end. Amano ONE’s Call Center empowers the SPA to provide remote assistance after hours.

  • Calls from the lane can be routed to a remote support team
